Water Restrictions
The Board has confirmed with Orange County the following watering information:
Homeowners in Lakes of Windermere are on reclaimed water so there are no watering restrictions for yards.
Letter from Orange County 7/9/10:
I received a call from one of the residents of Lakes of Windermere today expressing concern about the orange postcards that were mailed to Orange County Utilities water customers notifying them of the new fining process for the watering restrictions. We are required to notify all of our customers when rules change, however we did not make clear that this change does not apply to reclaimed water.
I have attached a copy of the postcard for your reference. As a point of clarification, the new ordinance applies to landscape irrigation regardless of whether the water comes from ground or surface water, from a private well or pump, or from a public or private utility. It does not apply to reclaimed water.
The use of water from a reclaimed water system for landscape irrigation is allowed anytime. A reclaimed water system includes systems in which the primary source is reclaimed water, which may or may not be supplemented from another source during peak demand periods.
The use of recycled water from wet detention treatment ponds is allowed anytime provided such ponds are not augmented by any ground water, or off-site surface water, or public water supply sources.
Please relay this information to the residents of Lakes of Windermere as a means of clarifying any confusion. We also encourage residents to visit our water conservation website at www.occonservewater.net for more information about our water conservation programs and activities.
Thanks for your assistance. Feel free to call me or send me an e-mail if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Camille Reynolds

Common areas are on a combination of well, ground water and reclaimed water (amenity park only). As we move to once a day watering due to restrictions in all common areas except the amenity park you may see some increased brown spots.
We are researching switching common areas to reclaimed water but still need to meet with Orange County as well as complete the financial analysis.
